African Union puts chief Gambia under pressure

The African Union considers Yahya Jammeh since January 19 no longer as a legitimate president of Gambia.

On 19 January, Jammeh must transfer power to the winner of the elections held in December. Jammeh recognized had lost first his election, but came back later. He is in the West African country for 22 years in power.

The AU council warned that the consequences could be serious, as Jammeh persists in his refusal to cede power.
