Act for resignation Akihito fully accepted

The law allowing the resignation of Japanese emperor Akihito has been definitively adopted.

The mood was followed live on Japanese television. A majority of the higher house approved the law. Now the government has to prepare the details of the throne distance. It is expected for 2018.

Akihito has undergone a cardiac surgery and has been treated for prostate cancer. It would be the first abdication of a Japanese emperor in two hundred years. When the bill is accepted, crown prince Naruhito (57) will follow him.
