A mere leopard by a playful protest politician

A 71-year-old Norwegian politician managed to turn the spotlight on himself with a 'playful' protest against mass tourism.

The Norwegian wants to make a statement against mass tourism. He placed a picture on Instagram of his holiday spot at the fjords, with a cruise ship in the background.

It was a 'spontaneous action', says Svein Ingvald Opdal against Norwegian state media. 'We arrived in Olden, and immediately saw three large cruise ships. We later thought that there were 11,000 tourists in total. I'm not that enthusiastic about it. '

As his vacation progressed, more and more cruise ships arrived in the small town of Olden. When two ships docked on a quiet Sunday while Svein went outside to urinate at night, he asked his wife to shoot a special snapshot.

'She did not want to put it on Facebook or Instagram, so I did it myself', according to the local politician of Miljøpartiet De Grønne. On social media his photo leads to hilarity and (somewhat jolly) acclaim. 'Brave warrior!'
