A doctor who saved Thai footballers loses his father a few hours later

The Australian Richard Harris, who has had a large share in the rescue operation of the Thai football players and their coach, is praised worldwide for his heroic work.

Richard broke off his family vacation in Thailand to help with the rescue operation. He is a doctor, has thirty years of experience as a diver and had previously rescued people from a flooded cave. This is how Nieuwsblad reports.

The Australian played an important role in the mission to get the twelve football players and their coach safely out again. He was even the last with three Thai Navy Seals who eventually left the cave. A few hours after the heroic rescue operation, Richard received a heartrending message. He was told that his father had died.
