92-year-old prime minister remains 1 or 2 years

The oldest prime minister in the world expects to stay 'maybe 1 or 2 years'.

Mahathir and his political allies in the opposition surprisingly won the elections earlier this month. They defeated seated prime minister Najib Razak, who was under fire because of a corruption scandal. During his reign, billions would have disappeared from the 1MDB state fund.

The new leader said that his coalition partner and former protégé Anwar Ibrahim will be released on Wednesday. He is in prison after a conviction for sodomy, but would receive amnesty. Anwar is seen as the probable successor of Mahathir, who had been in power in Malaysia for 22 years.
