9 million EU support for asylum seekers Italy

The European Commission has sent EUR 9 million to Italy to improve access to health care for asylum seekers in Italian reception camps.

According to EU Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos (migration), Italy has been under particularly high pressure in recent years with regard to the reception of migrants and refugees. 'We will continue to assist Italy and all other Member States to help manage migratory flows and provide shelter for those in need of protection. '

A total of EUR 200 million has already been transferred to European emergency aid for migrants to Rome. From the multi-annual budget, which runs until 2021, 653.7 million euros have also been made available.
