400 buffalo drown in African river

In the river Chobe along the border between Botswana and Namibia 400 buffalo drowned.

The particularly large buffalo herd was grazing in Namibia. When the animals fled, they trampled each other and fell from the steep banks into the water.

The river runs along a large nature park where many animals live, including the African buffalo. The ministry says it is not the first mass drowning in the area. In the Chobe river, but also on the island of Sedudu it happened earlier.
