22 wounded by fireworks explosion Cuba

An uncontrolled fireworks explosion during a Christmas Eve party in Cuba killed 22 people, including six teenagers.

The ancient Parrandas festival is held every year on 24 December in Remedios. Two neighborhoods try to outdo each other in a carnival-like atmosphere with a breathtaking show of floats and fireworks.

The spectacle always attracts thousands of Cubans and tourists to the city. As far as we know, there are no foreigners among the victims.
