1.6 million for victims attack Berlin

The victims of the terrorist attack last year at the Christmas market in Berlin have so far received 1.

The money was deposited in a special fund, which is still open for donations.

The attack took place on Monday, December 19, 2016, when a truck ran into the visitors of the market at the famous Gedächtniskirche, in the center of the capital. There were twelve deaths and 48 wounded. The 23-year-old Tunisian perpetrator, Anis Amri, initially escaped, but later turned into a gunfight with the Italian police near Milan.

Chancellor Merkel talks with victims and surviving relatives of the attack on 18 December. This group has previously complained in an open letter about the political failure after the attack.
