1.5 years in prison for killing wounded Palestinians

An Israeli soldier shot and killed a captured wounded Palestinian, Tuesday received a half years in prison for manslaughter.

Sergeant Azaria told another Israeli soldier that the Palestinians deserved to die and shot him in the head. Al-Sharif had recently along with another Palestinian occupants in Hebron attacked with a knife. The other Palestinian was shot dead immediately.

Azaria's commanders condemned the crime and a court martial found him guilty of manslaughter. There may be twenty years in prison. Prosecutors demanded by Azaria three to five years. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously assured to do everything to ensure that Azaria pardon is granted.

In Hebron, home to an estimated 200 000 Palestinians. The city has been occupied by Israel since June 1967. The occupying power is relatively large and active to keep an estimated eight hundred Jewish settlers in the Old City.
