stockholm - Detainees convicted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague can now also be punished in Sweden. The court and the Swedish government have made agreements about it, announced the ICC on Wednesday.

The Rome Statute, the ICC's founding treaty, stipulates that convicted prisoners must be punished in a country designated by the court. Currently, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Serbia, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland have indicated that they are willing to do so. As of Wednesday, Sweden can also be added to that list.
