the hague - A 36-year-old confused man Wednesday in The Hague hijacked a car in which sat a woman and child is a few blocks away causing havoc. At the junction of the Loevesteinlaan and Melis Stokelaan he drove at high speed into a parked car, a rail vehicle of public transport company HTM and at traffic lights.
After the collision, the man tried again to get into the car of a passerby, but he was stopped by bystanders and soothed. Police stopped him. Because he was injured, he was taken first to the hospital.
The suspect is known to the police as a user of hard drugs. The frantic husband had the car forced to stop by jumping on the hood. After a brief struggle, managed to get the 53-year-old manageress and her 10-year passagiertje out of the car and started the man on his wild ride. Besides the carjacker no one was injured.
