Netanyahu wants to work with Trump on peace

World March 27, 2017 17:33

washington - Israel wants to cooperate with President Donald Trump to reach a peace agreement with the Palestinians. That said Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on Monday in a speech to the influential American pro-Israel lobby organization AIPAC. The speech was broadcast via video link from Israel.

Netanyahu thanked Trump for his commitment to close cooperation between the United States and Israel. 'Israel has no greater friend than the United States and the United States have no greater friend than Israel. We have the same enemies and the same values, 'said Netanyahu.

Normally, the Israeli Prime Minister would have traveled to the US to keep this speech. The possible reason this did not happen, is in the US displeasure over Israel's settlement policy in the occupied West Bank in recent times. That discontent dates back to the period of the Obama presidency. The Israeli government hopes that under President Trump will improve relations between the two countries.
