May: 'make our own rules'

london - British Prime Minister Theresa May has officially announced Wednesday the departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union. They did this in a speech to the national parliament.

Relying on Article 50 of the EU Treaty London put the divorce in motion. That article states that a Member State is in principle not an EU member exactly two years after the withdrawal request, whether there is an agreement on the separation conditions or not.

Shortly before the speech of May handed EU Ambassador Sir Tim Barrow in Brussels the letter of termination of EU membership to Donald Tusk, the President of the European Council. On April 29, EU leaders decide the content of the negotiations on the United Kingdom and Gibraltar European Union membership referendum special summit in Brussels.

In May speech said: ' The best days of our kingdom are for us, now we go to make our own rules and work together. I want us to be an internationally oriented country that has a good relationship with Europe, but also outside the country. '

May promised to parliament Thursday with further information that the British will explain what the consequences for them on a personal level and will be in work. May said it would like to pursue with countries wanting to conclude separate trade.

May finally said, still ' it is very important for her country's relations with its most prosperous Europe. They will also make agreements with Europe that are best for both parties.
