baghdad - A suicide attack north of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, killed nine civilians on Sunday. Twelve people were injured in the explosion in the city of Baquba, according to medical staff.
Similar attacks have been more frequent in Iraq in recent months. In most cases, the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization claimed the attacks. IS is under severe pressure in the country and also appears to be suffering in its last bulwark Mosul by the Iraqi army. From Baquba, the jihadists were expelled in January 2015.
